This isn't the first time I've seen this problem but it seems to be really bad when I try to use Sasha...

For unknown reasons, some of my projects when loaded into Poser 2012, cause the hard drive to constantly churn and work the entire time I am in Poser. I don't know what the cause is.

The hard drive is doing something, chugging and spinning, and I thought that maybe this was because it was generating the *.exr files in the temporary folder, but even once all the exr are created, the hard drive still keeps chugging constantly. I actually get concerned that it will prematurely wear out my drive.

When I have an empty scene and I just load in my saved Sasha figure, the hard drive is really going crazy, enough that I feel I have to exit Poser just to get it to go back to normal.

Does anyone know what might cause this? Could there be some kind of setting in Poser e.g. for virtual memory or something related to textures? It doesn't happen with all of my projects, just some. It's not due to the size of the project either because just loading Sasha into an empty default scene shouldn't even use up that much memory...

Hi Karina, I don't think the problem is with fragmentation, just because I have many other types of work on my hard drive (beyond just Poser e.g. large Photoshop textures and art files) and it only seems that with certain Poser projects, even a small one like my newly-created Sasha pz3, does the hard drive go crazy...

With Sasha for example, once the EXR files are generated, if I simply do nothing with Poser except sit there and just do nothing, no rendering, no posing, no loading, I just let Poser be idle, the hard drive light is still running like crazy and will never stop until I exit from Poser. I turned off my virus-checker just in case maybe it was constantly scanning the EXR files or something, but this didn't seem to affect the chugging. I keep thinking the problem could be something with the Poser settings that cause Poser to be doing something non-stop, and that might explain why some of my Poser pz3 do not cause so much churning while others do.

I wonder if it might have something to do with the libraries... I noticed that when I added Sasha folders as libraries, when I try to load my sasha.pz3 file, Poser will still ask me to manually locate some of its geometry files e.g. karinaVaginaMkV.obj, rNipple.obj, lNipple.obj, etc. every time. Perhaps even once all the resources are found, Poser is still doing something with the library? Perhaps constantly scanning for other files?

I guess I'll have to keep experimenting until I can isolate the cause.
